The Special Police Support Group will continue its work in the forthcoming months, and will coordinate and direct the action to be taken on the recommendations and formulate the programme imple- mentation. Additonal impetus will be given to the work as the re- organisation of Police Headquarters which has already been approved (see paragraph 8 above) takes place, and as the officers to be recruited assume their posts.

Public relations aspects

Publicity will be given to the various changes as they reach the stage when this can be done. Mr Crane will give a Press Conference before his departure on 17th May, and a press statement referring to the work of the advisers will be issued.

Honourable Members are invited to note the action to be taken as a result of the visit of the Special Police Advisers from the UK (paragraphs 8-22 and Annex C).

(The Secretary for Security (Mr L. M. DAVIES), the Commissioner of Police (Mr B. F. SLEVIN) and the head of the team of Special Police Advisers (Mr J. W.D. CRANE) will attend before the Council for the discussion of this item).
