Thank you for your letter dated 16th December 1977 about the death of Mr. LIU Ping-hon.

We in fact sent a telegram to you about this

I attach a case on 31st December, telegram No. 1309. copy of this telegram for your information as it summarises the main facts of the case as they are known at present.

The report of the Special Squad referred to at the end of the telegram should be ready in the next ten days or so. I will let you know when it is complete and whether it contains anything of significance.

As reported in the telegram, public interest in this case has waned, but one letter from Mr. Liu's sister and another from one of his university teachers have appeared in the press in the past few days. They do not seem to have aroused much interest.
