and

Thank you for your letter of 17th July, from which I note that you are preparing a detailed summary of the cases of the above prisoners for submission to the Parole Board.

As requested I enclose copies of the following documents:

(i)

Copy of Police Report furnished to prosecuting Counsel;

(ii)

Copies of the statements made by

to the Police prior to arrest;

(iii) A complete transcript of the trial proceedings;

(iv) Judgment of the Court of Appeal.

I trust that the above will serve your purposes.

For the record, it would assist us to know the reason for such an early submission to the Parole Board. Possibly it is in line with the advice contained in paragraph 4. of your signal No. 177 of 2nd March 1978, which indicated that a prisoner's case is considered by a joint committee after he has been detained for three years?

If there is to be any change to the procedure or projected sequence of events outlined in your telegram of 2nd March, we would be grateful if you would note to keep us informed.

(M.K. Courtney)
