proposes a 21 storey block of domestic flats over a podium offering shopping facilities on the ground floor and community use on the first floor. proposed number of flats is 63, accommodating 63 families, having an estimated population of 252. This proposed redevelopment will provide more and better housing accommodation than the present buildings, together with community facilities which are presently non-existent.

These two projects require the clearance of an estimated population of 1, 324 persons from 1, 228 domestic and 96 non- domestic units the details of which are tabulated as follows:

To facilitate these clearances, it is intended that domestic units in the Society's buildings nearby will be offered for sale on concessionary terms to the residents. Those residents who do not take up this offer will be offered rented accommodation either in the Housing Authority or the Housing Society estates depending on each family's circumstances. In addition to an offer of housing, advance cash. payments will be made to domestic occupiers at the rate between $19 to $24 per square foot.

A total of 12 commercial/industrial undertakings all occupying ground floor premises will be displaced from the buildings affected by the proposed resumption. The operators will be invited to submit statutory claims for compensation for the loss of their tenancies and damage to business caused by the resumption. At the same time they will be offered advances of compensation at rates between $38 and $48 per square foot, prior to the settlement of statutory claims.
