CL&The
The Director of Lands, Survey and Town Planning has been endeavouring to obtain by negotiation the strip of land shown coloured beige hatched black on the plan as annexed to provide for the widening of a footpath along the northern side of Conduit Road where it abuts Inland Lot 949. However, as the land is being held in undivided shares necessitating the agreement of each and every shareholder to a surrender, he has not been able to conclude nego- tiations,
2
The land required for the footpath forms part of a natural hillside and is 1.0 metre above road level. The widening of the footpath will involve the removal of three of the trees shown on the plan as annexed.
3
Funds for the compensation payments, which are estimated at $4, 200 are available within the approved project estimate for street widening. The land is vacant and no rehousing of occupants or ex-gratia payments will be involved. Accordingly it is recommended that one month's notice of resumption should be given.

Accommodation works will include the setting back of the existing fence to the new lot boundary, (estimated cost $15,000). In addition, if it is decided to set back the wall to the west of the lot in front of the right of way an additional cost of $3,800 will be incurred. Funds are also available for this purpose.
5
Honourable Members will be asked to advise, under section 3 of the Crown Lands Resumption Ordinance (Chapter 124), whether the resumption of the land shown coloured beige hatched black on the plan as annexed is required for a public purpose, namely the widening of a section of a footpath along Conduit Road.
(The Principal Assistant Secretary for the Environment (Mr Michael SUEN Ming-yeung) will attend before the Council for the discussion of this item).
