2. (contd)

Department here can give us by 10 a.m, on the 1st of each month the figures for the preceding month.) We should like to ensure that any discrepancies between the figures which the Chinese use and our own should be ironed out and to clarify any queries which they may have about the interpretation of the figures. The only way in which our figures very slightly over state the problem is that there are currently about 100 arrivals per month whose relatives in the US have been sent letters by the ʊ 3 Consulate-General inlicating that visas will be available in Hong Kong. Immigration Department we conducting a separate exercise to check how many arrivals have documents other than onward visas which are likely to ensure that they will be able to leave ilong Kong quickly, The numbers will be small but once we have details we may pass these to LCN A.
