The statistical returns for September 1978 are

The daily average figures for legal immigration from China were:-

234, including CPG passport holders

222, excluding CPG passport holders with visas

for final destination.

This is a sharp increase on the August figures of 183 and 181.

987 illegal immigrants from China were arrested during the month, compared with 594 in August. This is the highest arrest figure since repatriation commenced on 30 November 1974.

21 illegal immigrants from Macao were arrested during the month.
