The statistical returns for April 1978 are attached.

The daily average figure for legal immigration from China showed a sharp increase to 149, compared with 114 in March.

308 illegal immigrants from China were arrested during the month, compared with 165 in March. This is the highest arrest figure since repatriation commenced on 30 November 1974.

3 illegal immigrants from Macao were arrested during the month, compared with 57 in March.
