(c) this resulted from a design to provide
solutions to immigration problems not caused
by Hong Kong. British subjects.
4.
UMELCO consider that the Government should do all
it can to convince Her Majesty's Government that in providing
a solution to Her Majesty's Government's immigration problems it must take into account its immigration obligations to .
Hong Kong British subjects.
5.
Accordingly, UMELCO reiterate the views expressed
in its previous statement dated 31.5.77 and urge that not
only should the status quo be maintained but that the
Government should enter into negotiations with Her Majesty's
Government to establish criteria for granting a right of
entry into the U.K. to Hong Kong British subjects.
