irregularities, slamming the version created by the Education Department that
the school authority was the one who automatically asked for investigation into
the malmanagement of the school funds.
94. On May 29, 1978, the disclosure of ICAC created calls from various community
leaders for an open apology of Mr. Haye, the Deputy Director of Education,
for his act of deliberately smearing the image of the teachers. Mr. laye refused
to make any public statement on the calk and refused press interviews.
95. On the same day the Bishop's office issued a public statement clarifying
the
the act of the Bishop through tje Government information Office.
96. On June 4, 1978, telegrams, reports and newspaper clippings about the Precious
Blood Golden Jubilee School controversy had been sent to 10 British Members
of Parliament including Labour MP, Mr. Robert Parry by the Education Action
Group.
97. On June 6, 1978, the Education Department confirmed that some schools are being
investigated for financial irregularities.
98. On June 10, 1978, teachers, students and parents joined by 16 educational
and student bodies made another petition to the Governor and to the Bishop.
The petitions all called for the re-opening of the school. Three representatives
of teachers, students and parents were told by the Bishop that he had no time
to see them when they approached the Bishop after an ordination ceremony.
