On June 4, the Education Department delcared that the investigation on PBGJSS has

completed and results of the investigation were sent to the Attorney Gene al f

scrutinization.

18 On June 6, and 7, 1977, the teachers wrote twice to the School Council 、、 request、

log explanations and amendments to certain clauses.

On June9, 1977, the eve of the deadline for signing the new contract, the Seidl Committee Lounett refused the request made by the teacher on June 6. Having learnt about

the situation, the student representatives from each class held an emergency meeting

during the second recess and resolved to take action to support the just request

of their teachers and to ask the school to explain the financial mismanagement.

Without informing the teachers nor the school authority beforehand, all the students

assembled in the basketball court and staged a spontaneous sit-in after the third

recess until the end of the school day.

20 On June 10, 1977, the students continued their sit-in after the morning assembly.

The students requested the principal to explain openly the financial)mismanagement

of the school but was refused. The students then requested the teachers to make public... ·

the financial irregularities of the School and promised that they would resume class

after the explanations. Une of the teachers then talked to all the students openly

of their findings. After the talk the students returned to their respective classrooms

immediately. Am Assistanée Director and two Senior Education Officers entered the

school compound during the latter part of the talk.

On the same day the teachers signed their contracts in the original form as given

Management Committee. by the Sehood Kouncil.

On June 13, the Attorney General passed the case of financial mismanagement to

the Commercial Crime Bureau for further investigation.

On June 16, 1977, the Director of Education issued warning letters to all the 35

teachers of the School, threatening to cancel their registration if similar

things (student sit-ins) happen again.

24 On the same day, the Hong Kong Federation of Catholic Students issued a news sheet

publicizing the full report of the teachers on the school's malmanagement of finance,

the reaction of the Golden Jubilee students, the reaction of Education Department

and some Christian reflections and critiques on the whole matter. On Sunday when
