However, by then, the old teachers' "misbehaviour" of

the year could be separated from any connection with the finan-

cial scandal of the previous year and her move would be more

justified. Now it is not difficult at all to understand the

conspiracy of the Education Department and the determination

of miss Kwan to implement it.

5. The students' demands ignored

On the other hand, Miss Kwan went on with her high-handed

measures against the students. The repeated demand for the re-

vival of the Students' Union was neglected as usual and the pa-

rents' and students' concern over the opening of form 6 classes

was not taken into account. The students wrote to the newspapers,

but neither the school took any action nor the Education Department

made any response.

hé secret search of school bags

Since last October, the school bags of many students in different

classes had secretly been searched. As a result of frequent

complaints from students about the matter, the school authority

decided that the doors would be locked when students left their

classrooms to attend lessons in special rooms or the playground.

The school also appointed two persons to keep the keys of caco

classroom, one was the vice-principal, Miss Lo Mo-kit, the other

was the janitor. When all students left the classrooms, tue class

monitor should ask the janitor for the key to lock the door and

then handed it back on return. However, school bags were repeatedly

searched, although nothing was lost. On April 14 1978, the same

incident happened again. Students could not stand this any longer

and went to the class-master, the vice-principal and the principal

to ask for thorough investigation. But no-definite reply had

ever been given to the students. The more evasive the school

authority was, the more disturoed the students became, At last,

each class appointed one or two representatives totalling to a

number of about thirty. They repeatedly inquirea Miss Lo Mo-kit

When Miss Lo about the course or outcome of the investigation.
