On the morning of June 9, a reply was given to the teachers

by the Management Committee through Sister Siu, in which the

Management Committee refused to make any amendments on the said

clause.

E) The students' further demand for an explanation and the

gathering at the playground

a) Frustrated by the reluctance of the school to clarify

the financial allegation and obsessed by the fear of the teachers'

refusal to sign the unreasonable contracts, the students made a

further attempt.

Regarding the suspected embezzlement of school funds, the

students believed there was no need for any Government departments

to investigate or to tell the school how much they had embezzled.

If the school authority did make mistakes, they should admit them.

They should not forsake the virtue of honesty which had been one

of those qualities advocated in the school.

They understood

At the same time, the students felt that the teachers

should not be victimized for the cause of justice.

clearly that in exposing the financial irregularities the teachers

would not be benefited in any way but would rather make their

careers at stake.

b) The gathering at the playground in the second recess on

June 9

In the second recess, all the students of the school lined

up in the playground. Student representatives from each class

gathered together to ask to see the Acting Principal, demanding

explanations for the prolonged puzzle over financial irregularities

and for the unreasonable clauses in the teachers' new contracts.

Hastily-made banners demanding explanation on the financial

irregularities were put up. However, Sister Siu not only rejected

their request but also ordered them to go back to the classrooms.

Students insisted that they would not leave unless explanations

were given to them. It was

then that the students began to sit

down waiting for a reply. In the course, the class representatives

had contacted the school authority repeatedly but were not able to
