I am sorry to say that as a result of a misunderstanding of information sent from Hong Kong, the reply I gave to one of the Questions you asked on 28 June was incorrect. The Question was:
"To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if consultations are still taking place with the Professional Teachers Unions concerning staff formerly employed at the Golden Jubilee Secondary School in Hong Kong."
The answer should have been:
"The Professional Teachers Union have had a meeting with the Committee of Inquiry set up by the Governor to investigate the events leading to the closure of the Golden Jubilee Secondary School. Representatives of the teachers involved have also had three meetings with the Committee, and have also met with representatives of the Catholic Bishop of Hong Kong, who is responsible for nominating the School Management Committee which employs the teachers."
I much regret this error and apologise for any confusion which may have been caused by my original incorrect reply.
Robert Parry Esq MP House of Commons
Yours sincerely
