3. The press conferences

After the former principal of the school, Sister Leuge Kit-

fun, had been pleaded guilty to 10 charges of false accounting,

the Hong Kong Federation of Students, and three educational bodies

held press conferences on Feb. 24 and Feb, 26, 1978 res-

pectively to demand that the Education Department publicise

its report on the financial irregularities of the Precious blood

Golden Jubilee Secondary School and to withdraw the 35 warning

letters issued to the teachers of the school. The educational

bodies were the Hong Kong Professional Teachers' Union, the Edu-

cation Action Group and the nong Kong Federation of Catholic

Students. Again, no reply was made.

um Feb. 20, the teachers wrote to Mr. Topley asking him

to rescind the warning letters but on Feb. 27, the day after

the press conference, Mr. Topley replied refusing to withdraw

the warning letters.

4. The Catholic Justice and Peace Commission's demand

On March 14, the Catholic Justice and Peace Commission

wrote to mr. Topley urging him to explain the issuing of warning

letters or withdraw them but, ao reply was given either.

5. The Hong Kong Federation of Students' demanu

On April 28, The Hong Kong Federation of Students requested

the Director of Education to rescind the 35 warning letters bul

the Education Department rejected the request on April 291'.
