Dear Sir,

Cn 16th June 1977, you addressed a letter to me which expressed your dissatisfaction with me and referred to Section 47(e) of the Education Ordinance and. your powers thereunder, I was rendered considerably apprehensive by your letter, its tone, content and its admonition. I was also surprised and dismayed that a communication of such a nature should have been sent to me since the letter did not give any indication of what specific acts or omissions alleged against me had prompted your communication and also because I was furnished with no opportunity of meeting charges which you clearly considered of a grave nature.

However, I was at that time prepared to tolerate the unfair situation in which I was placed for the following reasons. You have a reputation for familiarity with local society, its language and its customs; I have never heard it suggested that you are not a fair-minded person ready to act in a judicious manner. I assumed, therefore, that your letter was written on the basis of misleading, ill- founded and incomplete information. I also assumed that the staff responsible for advising you were influenced toward precipitate (and unjustified as far as my conduct was in question) action by the misleading reports put about by the news media. I was convinced that as you became more aware of the true nature of events at the school by which I am employed, you would deem my own behavicur to have been perfectly proper in every way and cause your letter to be withdrawn.

I am disappointed that you have not yet withdrawn your letter but I was led to believe that you did not wish to prejudice what I understand to be complex police inquiries related to certain financial matters at Frecious Blood Golden Jubilee Secondary School. These investigations, I am told, are now complete so far as the police are concerned. Keanwhile, for reasons which I do not comprehend, a fresh spate of publicity has started about the school, none of it which I have seen of a particularly flattering nature.
