MP'S LETTER: INDO-CHINESE REFUGEES
1. Mr Eric Deakins MP wrote to Mr Luard on 14 December, enclosing a letter from a constituent who complains about the Government's policy on the admission to the UK of Indo-Chinese refugees.
Mr Deakins has asked for a brief statement of government policy on the matter in order better to reply to his constituent giving his own views.
2. Some of the questions posed in the constituent's letter, about resettlement and housing for refugees in this country, would be more appropriately answered by the Home Office. UND has agreed, therefore, with the Home Office that Mr Luard might copy his reply to Mr Brynmor John, enclosing the letters from Mr Deakins and his constituent, so that Mr Deakins may be provided with the additional information he will need to reply fully to his constituent's enquiry.
3. I submit a draft reply.
