I have, therefore, suggested to the Home Office that the occasion would be an ideal one during which to announce any further intake of Indo-Chinese refugees (the majority of whom, if the proposal is agreed, we should expect to take from Hong Kong, with smaller numbers from Thailand and Malaysia). I have asked the Home Office whether it might be helpful for them to have a memorandum, of the kind you suggested, in the last paragraph of your letter under reference, on Hong Kong's refugee problem. keep you informed of developments.
