(a) Cyprus
The only other political question, which was raised by Greece,
was that of the displaced persons in Cyprus which resulted in the
traditional tripartitie exchange between Greece, Cyprus and
Turkey.
This wearisome ritual was brought to an end only when
the representatives concerned eventually heeded the repeated
appeals and warnings of the Chairman to refrain from further
provocation.
(e) Lebanon

country and made an appeal for more UNHCR assistance.

and fourteen delegations did so. The Director of Assistance
responded by announcing an emergency allocation of $100,000.
(f) General
Canada proposed that the High Commissioner hold regular informal
consultations with members on all aspects of UNHCR's work. They
did not press this further and indeed despite suggestions before
the Session that the Canadians were going to play an active role
they took rather a back seat. Possibly they were inhibited by
having the chair. During the paragraph-by-paragraph analysis of
the Assistance Report (doc A/AC.96/553) Mr Gould made an inter-
vention (Annex C) welcoming the new section dealing with the UK,
but explained that part of it was misleading.

9. As most new contributions had been announced during the
General Debate and as the financial implications of the Assistance
Report had been dealt with under that item the discussion of
