9. Given our commitments elsewhere, the UK response to the Indo-
Chinese refugee problem has not been bad in terms of financial assistance and resettlement places offered. But we could still take some more and be seen (not least by the Americans) to be
taking some more.
Recommendation
10. I recommend that Mr Luard write to Ms Derian and to
Dr Summerskill on the lines of the attached drafts. SEAD and
KHGD concur. The Home Office have been consulted on the draft
to Ms Derian and concur.
