Free dental treatment, dentures and certain glasses-tell your dentist or optician if you have a supplementary pension. He will ask you to sign a form so that you do not have to pay any NHS charges. If you do not have a supplementary pension get leaflet M11 from any post office or social security office and this will tell you if you can get any help.

Hospital fares-if you or your wife have to attend hospital as a patient take your supplementary pension order-book because the hospital will then refund your fares. If you do not have a supplementary pension ask at the hospital or your local social security office for leaflet H11, and this will tell you whether you can get any help.

16. Other help you may get

Rent and rate rebates and rent allowances-any rebate or allowance you are already getting will have to be withdrawn if you get a supplementary pension for more than a few weeks and the supplementary pension will make up the loss. But if you do not qualify for a supplementary pension, you may be entitled to a rebate or an allowance. Ask at your town hall or council offices for details.

Attendance Allowance-you may be able to get this if you are severely disabled physically or mentally and need a lot of looking after. It does not affect your supplementary pension. Get leaflet NI 205 from your local social security office.

Concessionary fares-if you are over retirement age you may be able to get reduced bus fares. Get details from bus stations, your local council or Citizens Advice Bureau.

Legal aid and advice-for details get leaflet "Legal Aid Could Help You" from a Citizens Advice Bureau.
