Medical Treatment and Rehabilitation Service

In this field wide ranging services are already provided. The main developments will involve increasing the number of hospital beds for psychiatric patients and improving the training of medical and para-medical staff in rehabilitation.

(a) Social Rehabilitation Service

The overall policy aims, in this sector, are to help the disabled find suitable accommodation and gainful employment and to provide them with the opportunity to live a normal social life. To these ends, the Hong Kong Government intends to modify public housing units, so as to meet the needs of the disabled; to provide residential services to those who cannot look after themselves; to offer jobs in the Civil Service to disabled applicants with the necessary qualifications and to continue supporting voluntary organizations which provide social and recreational services to the disabled.
