There are no income limits for rebates. If this chart does not cover particular circumstances ask the council. The most anyone will normally get off their rates is £2.50 a week, or £3.00 a week if they live in London. (£3.20 and £4.50 respectively from 1 April 1978.)
Further information: Leaflet “How to pay less rates” (“Rate rebates—latest" in Scotland) and claim forms from local councils and Citizen's Advice Bureaux.

Rent rebates and allowances
Most tenants (except those who already receive supplementary benefit) who find it difficult to afford the full rent of their home may apply to their local authority for direct financial help. Local authority and New Town tenants get a rebate which is deducted at source from their rent, and tenants of private furnished or unfurnished accommodation are paid an allowance.
