Statutory limit for payment

of wages due

Limitation on manner and place of payment

Within 7 days

Wages must be paid at the worker's usual place of employment and in legal tender unless otherwise agreed with the worker.

Extent of wage deductions permitted

Not more than 50% of the wages for any wage period may be deducted for damage or loss of goods, equipment or property, meals, accommodation, advance or overpayment of salary and, at the employee's reque st in writing, contributions to lawfully established medical benefit schemes, provident fund scheme, thrift scheme etc.

Priority of wages over other debts in case o bankruptcy or winding

Priority is guaranteed by law up to a maximum of $18,000: Wages 4 months or

a maximum of $8,000 Wages in lieu of notice-1 month or a maximum of $2,000 Severance pay not. exceeding $8,0%.

Within 3 days otherwise an interest of 5% per day will be added for each additional day from the fourth to the

eighth day, and subsequent

Money wage should be paid directly to the employee in legal tender.
