Thai Government policy towards trade unions is rather confused at the moment. The intention of the Government to separate tate enterprise unions from those in the private sector and to control them separately has met with strong criticism. This has resulted in delay in the formation of a ational Labour Development Board (on a tripartite basis) whose function would be to advise the Government on labour matters.
