EXTRACT FROM DAILY SITREP

Commenting on Under-Secretary of State for Industry Bob Cryer's recent reference to workers here, SCMP said in leader headed 'When you don't do your homework' that Cryer receives copies of all recent legislation and speeches about the subject made in Legco, press clippings from Hong Kong newspapers and government position papers on labour laws.

Nobody can tell Mr. Cryer what to say in House of Commons. Nobody would wish to dictate to him. But we can and should make sure that if Mr. Cryer wishes in future to talk about working conditions in Hong Kong, he at least knows what he is talking about.
