Statutory provisions relating to normal hours of work-

INDONESIA

Act No. 1 of 1951 ARTICLE I

Labour Act No. 12 of 1948- Part IV: Work-time and Rest-time

Article 10 (1) Employees shall not be permitted to work for more than 7 hours a day or 40 hours a week. (When work is performed during night time or dangerous to the health and safety of the employees the work-time shall not exceed 6 hours a day or 35 hours a week. (This provision of the article has not yet been brought into force)).

(2) After having performed work for four successive

hours a rest-time of at least half an hour shall be granted, such rest-time shall not be included in the working hours referred to in (1) above.

Hours of work for Government Offices for every working day shall be from 7.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. except for Saturdays when they shall be up to 1 p.m. and for Fridays when they shall be up to 11.30 a.m., and except that those who wish to perform Friday Prayers and who se place of work is located far from a mosque shall be allowed to leave their office at 11.00 a.m.

Article 42 (Hours of Work)

The standard hours of work shall be eight hours per day and forty-eight hours per week excluding the hours of rest. The hours of work may be extended to sixty hours per week by mutual agreement.

Article 55 (Hours of Work

The hours of work of minor between 13 years of age and 18 years of age shall not exceed seven hours a day and 42 hours a week. The hours of work may be extended within the limit of two hours by authorization of the Director General of the Office of Labour Affairs.
