Since 1974 the number of drug addicts undergoing
treatment and rehabilitation under Hong Kong Government supported programmes has increased from 6,000 to 15,500 a day. Indications so far show success rates varying from over 60% for compulsory in-patients to 14% for certain categories of voluntary out-patients.
