Australians until the ASEAN countries have been consulted. We shall ensure that the Australians are aware that the discussions are being held on this basis.
While our posts in the ASEAN countries should of course be kept in the picture regarding the progress of these matters, I think it would be best to defer sending them any further instructions until after the forthcoming round of talks. I hope our officials will then be able to agree on the line to be taken in any discussions with the countries concerned.
