1. CARRIERS HAVE INFORMED DOT THAT THERE IS NO SHORTAGE OF CAPACITY. THE LOAD FACTOR OF 80 PER CENT WHICH YOU QUOTE APPEARS TO RELATE ONLY TO THE JOHANNESBURG-SEYCHELLES LEG OF THE JOURNEY. CAPACITY WAS INCREASED IN 1977 WHEN SAA REPLACED A 707 WITH A 747SP. TO MEET PARTICULAR DEMANDS, SAA HAVE, WITH BA'S AGREEMENT, OCCASIONALLY USED THE LARGER 747B INSTEAD. IF CAPACITY WERE SHORT, THE CARRIERS WOULD TAKE STEPS TO INCREASE IT.
