On my fairwell call today I asked about the prospects for flights between ngkok and Jietnam. I was told that Thai Airways were engpiring about visas for Hanoi, which they would probably bave to collect in Iros, for late March or early. Agile From 16cfarer there would be one Ahnu flight, weekly between, Bangkok, und Visutne and between Vientiane and Hanoi, which they would try to the iu to avoid

ju overnight stop in Vientiane as much as possible. As for the Bangkok/Saigon route, the Tasis were studying this; the volume of traffic was all-important.

I also asked whether they yet dad plans to buy new aircraft. They said that this was second priority; the first priority was to bring the new Hanoi interna- tional airport up to international standards.

On menoarchip of XAO, they said they were studying the implications and in particular what obligations membership would impose on them.

Finally, they expressed appreciation of our help (AMCO's really) over the Aupply of coures, and over anti-hijacking sounning equipment.
