PETITION
THE K.C.R. RAILWAY STATION AT TSIM SHA TSUI
THE HONG KONG HERETAGE SOCIETY HEREBY PETITIONS THAT:-
The K.C.R. Buildings at Tsim Sha Tsui be made the subjeot
of a comprehensive conservation order to ensure the preservation of
the major briak and stone structure including the clock tower as indicated in colour on the attached diagrammatio drawiNE.

An independent inquiry ohaired by an independent architect/planner of international repute, be convened so that:- (a) the views of all Government Departments, the Urban
Council, the Antiquities Advisory Board, other
interested bodies, and the public can be made known
openly and frankly, and a sensible and informed
replanning of the area can be achieved;
(b) a study of the tip of the Tsim Sha Tsui peninsula can
be made to consider and incorporate into the development
plans for the area:-
(1)
the conservation of the K.C.R. buildings;
(ii) the conservation of the Tsim Sha Tsui Marine Police
Station and its hill;
(iii) firm new uses for the accommodation within the
buildings which are compatible with those plans (o) A comprehensive re-examination of the total urban design
problems of the area as a whole be undertaken to integrata
and consider the numerous demands and uses of the area in
the light of changed oiroumstances, and fresh problems in
the past few years.
