The Secretary of State has instructed me

to inform you that detailed consideration has been

given to the points raised in your petition and

that advice has been obtained from the Governor

of Hong Kong.

He is satisfied that :

there is an urgent requirement for a

modern cultural complex to be built on

this piece of land;

(b)

there is not enough land available

in this locality for both the cultural

complex and the retention of the

station building;

(c)

the design for the cultural complex

will be of a standard commensurate with

its prominent site;

(d)

there is no significant popular support

for the preservation of this building;
