The enclosed letter written by Miss Represented, who like myself is Chinese, embodies what I have to say on the Subject of the K.C.R. Station.

At our meeting on Saturday, Mr. Thompson repeatedly accepted the views of "the Chinese" that he had met at random, who were either indifferent or who favoured destruction, whilst rejecting the views of those Chinese that were sitting in front of him, before he had even set foot in Hong Kong. It was like the parochial shop girl saying "But, no one has ever complained, Sir, (So your complaint is not acceptable).

I do not belong to the catagory of "culturally pre-communist mainland" Chinese, who flooded across the border in the last 30 years. In my family, four generations have lived in Hong Kong. We have seen the place through thick and thin. a professional man. I have been fortunate in having been able to experience the democracy of life over-seas. But first and formost, I am a Hong Kong Chinese. This is my heritage, The Hong Kong Heritage, that is at stake, I want to see the station building revitalised and integrated into the new Cultural Complex, and used for the benefit of successive generations. I demand to be heard. I refuse to be dismissed as insignificant in my own home town.

I should be grateful if you would pass on a copy of this letter together with the news-cutting for Mr. Thompson's reference.
