Thank you for sending me a copy of your letter of 17 November to Andrew Duguid about the bid by Metro-Cammell Limited for the contract to supply electrical multiple units for the Hong Kong section of the Kowloon/Canton Railway.

In the Foreign and Commonwealth Secretary's absence, Lord Goronwy Roberts considers it very important that a British firm should win this contract and is content with the arrangements to reduce Metro-Cammell's price outlined in your letter.
