Consideration will also have to be given to schemes for
ensuring efficient operation of the bus services. In particular the design of new Central bus terminals and the
integration of bus access routes with road proposals and the
conversion of Queensway tram reservation into a bussay
must be considered. Also an examination of possible traffic
management schemes incorporating bus priorities for Des
Voeux Road West and King's Road, following construction of
new Waterfront roads, should be undertaken to ensure that
the new roads can be readily integrated with such schemes. A scheme to convert Queen's Road East into a bus priority
route must also be developed.
The major concern for the longer term aspects of the programme is to ensure that the complete HTR tunnel alignment of the Island Line is safeguarded.
