new power station, and will be fully integrated with the utility's present 132 kV network.

The new order is a turnkey package and includes the design, supply, and installation of overhead transmission lines, underground supertension cables, and substation transformers and reactors, as well as the provision of services to CLP by British Electricity International, the overseas consultancy arm of the UK electricity supply industry.

China Light and Power (CLP) is the quoted Hong Kong company which supplies electricity to consumers in Kowloon and the New Territories of Hong Kong. In association with Eastern Energy, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Esso, it

has undertaken the development of the new dual-fired power station at Castle Peak, the contract for the first two x 350 MW generating sets for which was let to GEC Turbine Generators Ltd. (Announced on January 19,1978

CLP's Chairman is Sir Lawrence Kadoorie.

As in the case of the power station contract, the team negotiating with CLP was led by officials from the Department of Industry, headed by

Mr A J Lippitt, a Deputy Secretary.

The buyer credit loan for this contract will be arranged and managed by J Henry Schroder Wagg and Company Ltd.
