ANNEX I
Dear Sir
re Proposed Power Generating Station on Lamma Island
I refer you to the above subject matter and the proposed site, which has been referred to Government for consideration and approval. The purpose of this letter Sir, is not intended to contest or challenge the right of the developer to construct a major power generation in- stallation on this very beautiful island, but to question the wisdom of siting such an effluent orientated development in so alarmingly close proximity to the most inhabited areas of Lamma Island, and this is further to the extended period of actual physical formation of the site and the conjunctive chaos that is generally conducive to Works. of such magnitude,
Therefore, it is fervently hoped, that an alternate site shall be suggested by Government or the Consultants,.in order to quickly allay any fears or misgivings in respect of final approval, that might now exist among the people of Yung Shu Wan and the rest of Lamma Island North.
Lamma Island as you know, is the third largest island in the Colony and features some very remote and mountainous topography, that would surely be productive of the types of rock fill commensurate with sea wall engineering techniques.
In conclusion Sir, I wish to take this opportunity to thank you for permitting me to put forward to your good self, the sentiments of not only the writer here, but of the great majority of the fisher- folk and farmers of our Island.
Very sincerely,
J A `Gráy Chairman
