APPLICATION FROM THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS!L 1973
FOR EXEMPTION OF THE CONSTRUCTION WORKS
IN RESPECT OF THE POWER STATION AT TAP SHEK KOK FROM THE PROVISIONS OF SECTION 13 OF THE OR DINA
Background
To meet the projected demand for electricity consum- ption in Kowloon and the New Territories, it is essential that the construction of the proposed power station at Tap Shek Kok, adjacent to Tuen Mun, proceeds rapidly in order that it may be commissioned in stages commencing in 1981. To meet this ambitious construction programme, the Kowloon Electricity Supply Company, their consultants for the project and their contractors for the site formation works are of the opinion that it is imperative that the work be carried out on a 24-hour basis seven days a week. They have therefore approached the Director of Public Works seeking an exemption from the above Ordinance.
