The project is very important to us. Whilst we do not

expect any favours we welcome such support as the British

Commercial Office is able to provide. We are in regular contact

with Dereck March, the Senior Trade Commissioner in Hong Kong.

Two Olympus C gas generators are installed on the mainland

in a Curtiss Wright installation with China Light and Power and

we have a spare Rolls-Royce owned pool gas generator in the area.

There were initial teething problems with the China Light and Power gas generators, but prompt service action has resulted in

satisfactory service operation and a good relationship.

If it can be confirmed that we are the only U.K. bidder on

the short-list, we would hope that the official British support

could be swung uniquely behind Rolls-Royce.
