limited time at its disposal on occasions it split into

several groups and so met different organisations simul-

taneously.

The Trade Industry and Customs Department was

responsible for preparation of briefing materials and

speaking notes for members of the Mission. The Hong Kong

Trade Development Council was responsible for logistical

support services, translation, printing and other arrange-

ments in Japan.

Programme and Preparations

The programme of the Mission (Appendix I) was

developed by Hong Kong Trade Development Council and the

Trade Industry and Customs Department in close consultation

and collaboration with the Japanese Consulate General in

Hong Kong and the British Embassy in Tokyo. The public

relations consultant provided invaluable assistance and

liaison with the Japanese authorities and trade and

industrial associations in Japan.
