1. CURRENT AND PENDING CONSULTATIONS
Philippines
The Philippines Mission had been informed as to Community agreement to extending the transitorial period to 30 September 1978 for 85% of the import authorizations for 1978. They had also been informed that statistics would be provided by the Community as a basis for administrating the agreed limitations. An Aide-Mémoire would be initialled by representatives of the Philippines and the Commission in Brussels.
Preferential countries
The Article 113 Committee would be considering this aspect the following day. The Commission would report on the results of the recent discussions with Spanish representatives.
Latin America
The Mexican authorities had provided a Note Verbale giving details of the authorities empowered to endorse export documents for the purposes of the agreement. Double-checking would begin as from 1 July 1978.
The latter point applied also to Peru.
As regards Argentina and Brazil, the Commission representative reported that Notes Verbales had been sent giving details of import authorizations granted for 1 January 5 March 1978. Brazil was being asked to limit the issue of export licences to 60% of 1978 quotas. Delegations were asked to check the Brazilian export figures now available for the first three months of 1978.
