Eastabout Route. An Eastabout route will be considered at the time of implementation if the necessary diplomatic clearances can be obtained.

Diplomatic Clearances.

It will be necessary to seek diplomatic clearance

for overflight and staging.. Accordingly:

a. The Ministry of Defence (Air Force Department) (MOD (Air)) in consultation with the FCO, is to decide on the route to be used and initiate appropriate requests for diplomatic clearance.

b.

The FCO after consultation with MOD (Air) is to seek appropriate diplomatic clearances:

(1) Westabout Route. From the United States Goverment for overflight and staging facilities and from the Philippine Government for overflight clearances. It will also be necessary

to inform the Canadian Government of the intended use of their facilities.

(2) Eastabout Route. For overflight and staging facilities on the route selected.

IMPLEMENTATION

21. G Day/G Hour. G day/G hour is the Date-Time Group of the signal from Chiefs of Staff ordering the plan to be implemented.

22. H and L Hours. H hour is the time at which the first aircraft carrying reinforcements leaves the UK departure airfield, 1 hour is the time at which the first aircraft carrying reinforcements leaves Brunei.

23.

Implementation Message. The signal ordering implementation of the plan should use the Subject Indicator Code (SIC) I3D and:

a. Be addressed to the authorities as appropriate listed at paragraph 15.

b.

Include:

(1) The codeword (see para 53).

(2) H hour, or state when it is to be issued.

(3) Details of forces (including relevant infantry battalion establishment) to be deployed for the operation.
