PEACETIME OPERATIONS (WITHIN LOCAL HONG KONG WATERS)
17. Patrol Craft operations in local waters in peacetime are required to:
a. Provide an overt Royal Navy presence in Colony waters to sustain the
support of the local population for the Hong Kong Government.
b. Assist the RHKP in operations to contain Illegal Immigration by sea
and narcotics/arms smuggling.

Assist the Civil Administration in disaster relief operations.
Carry out in company training involving coordinated tactical exercises/
Seamanship serials required by CINCFLEET for HK Form 1 and Inspections.
e. Train and encourage the Hong Kong Sea Cadet, Sea Scout and Sea School
organisations by providing training opportunities at sea.
f. Undertake other Community Relations projects in consultation with HQRF,
and District Officers in assigned districts.
PEACETIME OPERATIONS (IN THE SEA DEFENCE AREA AND SOUTH CHINA SEA
18.
In addition to the above peacetime tasks, the Hong Kong Squadron is also
required to undertake:
a.
Deployments of two ships, two or three times annually, to maintain sea-
going experience and overall operational efficiency, while fostering good
relationships between HMG and South East Asian countries. These include
a requirement to visit Singapore every 8 months, as directed by CIN CFLEET.
b. Periodic 1 or 2 day SAR Exercises as arranged by Civil Aviation
Department, and other agencies.

Short (1 week) Ocean Training Periods twice a year to Subic Bay,
make use of range facilities and provide in company training and ocean
navigation opportunities as required by CINFLEET training directives.
d. Preparedness to assist British Flag Shipping as directed by MODUK NAVY
following any incident in the South China Sea.
