BRIGADE OF GURKHAS

1.

I am directed by the Army Board of the Defence Council to inform you that the Brigade of Gurkhas will continue to comprise five infantry battalions with the existing infrastructure of supporting arms and services and that notification of changes in the manning of the Brigade will be made shortly.

2. I am further to say that the commitment to maintain one battalion of Gurkhas in Brunei, which stems from talks held in London between HMG and the Sultan of Brunei during June, is expected to be for a period of up to five years from September 1978.
