Would you please refer to your letter HO 14/1 of 9 December enclosing a copy of a letter from the Export Development Corporation.
2. As you rightly say, the letter poses an extremely wide ranging series of questions on the status and future of Hong Kong. A number of these (primarily the historical ones) Research Department are looking into but on the remainder I would welcome the views of David Wilson in Hong Kong. I am therefore copying this letter to him with a copy of the Corporation's letter.
3. I should be grateful if you would let the Corporation know that we will be replying substantively as soon as possible.
