there seems a reasonable hope that the controversy will now die down.

Once the final report of the Committee of Inquiry is
available, we may need to consider whether there are any aspects of
the case that require further action from us. On the face ot it,
though the dissident teachers were far from blameless, the Education
Department seem to have shown a certain lack of sensitivity in the way
they handled the case. But there is no point in raking over the
embers at this stage.
We should concentrate on doing all we can to
encourage both sides to cooperate in making the compromise proposed
by the Committee work.
