CHINESE GENERAL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE HONG KONG: VISIT TO LONDON

1. The secretary of the Hong Kong Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, Mr wong Man Fai, came to see me yesterday to tell me that a group of 22 persons from the Chinese General Cha...ber of Commerce, led by the Chairman of the Chamber, Mr Tong Ping Tat, and including Messrs Ip Yeuk Lam, Wong Mee (Vice Chairman), and Wong Kine (Honorary Assistant Treasurer), will be leaving Hong Kong on 25 May for a 39-day round the world tour. They will be arriving in London on 12 June, and Wong indicated that they would very much like to visit the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry, if at all possible on the morning of 13 June. This timing would fit in very well with their existing programme, but if it is not possible then the afternoon of 13 June or the morning of 14 June might beacceptable. The Chamber are clearly very keen to visit the London Chamber and Wong pointed out that they "had had the honour" of receiving the London Chamber when they visited Hong Kong.

As you no doubt realise we have very/local relations with the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and they do quite a lot in inviting British missions. We should therefore very much like to be able to go back to then with a
