Thank you for your letter from Shanghai.

I was so sorry to miss you in Hong Kong and am glad to hear that you felt you had had a successful visit.

Broadly speaking things seem to be on a fairly even course here though, as usual, there is a great deal to be done and some risk-prone

areas.

I hope to be back in the UK in July and the first half of August, so hope to see you then.
