I am writing to let you know that heil Duncan, the Director of the Hong Kong Arts Centre is visiting China (with his wife Kathleen) and expects to be in Peking for about five days from about 14 November. I have suggested that he contact you on arrival.
2.
He expects to have discussions in Peking on possible cultural exchanges but does not yet know with whom this will be, We are generally in favour of increased exchanges with China but naturally keep a close watch to ensure that the pace and type of increased cultural exchanges does not give rise to political problems here. You will find Duncan well avare of the political implications which cultural exchanges can have (he was pleased that we were recently able to let the Soviet violinist, gidon Kraner, perform here).
3.
For background, I attach some of the Arts Centre's publicity material (Duncan has also agreed, at my suggestion, to send you regularly copies of the monthly programme) together with Kevin зinclair'3 interview with him p. 10 of the 3 CMP of 5 November.
